Cleaner energy will define the future and we will help bring that future to life.

We will put our energy behind helping the world reach GHG reduction targets, improving and delivering cleaner energy to customers. We will lower emissions in our operations and the energy we distribute. We will invest in new sources of low carbon and renewable energy.

Contributing to creating a cleaner future will grow our company into a sustainable and reliable energy provider that is more valued by customers, employees, communities and stakeholders.

We are excited by the opportunity in front of us, to help transform the future of energy and play a vital role in delivering it.

We will reduce GHG emissions from our operations and continue to contribute to lower-carbon energy systems.

Our vision for lower-carbon energy systems.

Gas and electricity working together as part of an integrated energy system.

Renewable wind and solar producing hydrogen gas that can be stored and distributed through the gas grid.

Delivering cleaner natural gas with renewable natural gas and hydrogen in the mix.

TSU plays a vital role as a provider of affordable, reliable low-carbon energy.

Cleaner Energy Outlook

Decarbonization momentum is accelerating. Our priorities and actions are driven by changing market forces and long-term clean energy trends.

Lower Costs of Technology

Renewable energy generation is becoming increasingly cost competitive.

Government
Support

World governments continue to support and fund sustainability initiatives.

Changes in Consumer Spending

Technologies that are not economically feasible today are becoming more affordable. (e.g. electric vehicles, residential battery storage)

Decarbonization Stimulus Funding

Green stimulus programs are being actively pursued across Canada at the national, provincial and community levels to promote the adoption of low-carbon energy solutions.

Our commitment is to reduce GHG emissions from our operations and contribute to lower-carbon energy systems.

TSU is committed to a cleaner future. We have a long history of undertaking actions necessary to reduce GHG emissions, improve our operations and deliver cleaner, reliable energy for our customers.

Reduce and avoid emissions through equipment replacement and energy efficiencies:
  • Replace aging pipeline assets and modernize equipment to reduce leaks, gas usage, venting and fugitive emissions
  • Replace compressor starters, stations, pump equipment and line heaters
  • Modernize PNG’s Western Transmission Gas Line with zero-or-lower carbon emitting equipment while enhancing safety and reliability
  • Replace gas and diesel vehicles in our fleet with electric vehicles
Adopt and promote technology advancements to reduce emissions:
  • Carbon Capture
  • Combined Heat and Power, Natural Gas Heat Pumps, Hydrogen Fuel Cells for transportation
Identify and pursue opportunities to switch from higher carbon emitting fuels to lower carbon energy:
  • Source additional carbon neutral renewable natural gas from suppliers
  • Invest in renewable natural gas and hydrogen projects
  • Increase focus on switching oil customers to natural gas
  • Invest in green energy opportunities such as wind, solar, hydro and geothermal to reduce emissions and grow our company
Reduce our carbon footprint through acquiring offsets and owning emissions offset projects:
  • Purchase and retain carbon offsets
  • Invest in projects like the Bear Mountain Wind Park to further offset Carbon Emissions. The 102 MW Bear Mountain Wind Park provides approximately 23,000 homes with zero-emitting electricity per year
Implement programs to improve the energy use and efficiency of our customers.

Cleaner energy will define the future.

The move to lower-carbon energy will continue. Canada and the world have their sights on achieving GHG reduction targets over the course of the coming decades. TSU is committed to being a part of it.

Delivered energy in the future will produce lower emissions. Gas infrastructure will continue to play a vital role in energy delivery.

Natural gas will be greener with hydrogen and renewable natural gas included in the mix.
